Women Who Stand Beside Us
An ongoing conceptual series of paintings, sculptures, and future public art works currently in development.
Artist Statement
I am an artist and designer whose work explores protection, resilience, belonging, and empowerment through sculpture, public art, and spatial design. My practice is inspired by the relationships that help us navigate vulnerability and strength, particularly the women, mentors, mothers, sisters, and friends who offer guidance, wisdom, support, and care throughout our lives.
Building on my experience in public art, I am developing a sculptural language rooted in abstract forms that embody both strength and tenderness. Circles, shields, and organic geometries appear throughout my work as symbols of protection, connection, and transformation. I am interested in how art can occupy space not only as an object, but as a presence that fosters dignity, contemplation, and belonging.
Central to my practice are questions of agency, representation, and whose stories are told. Historically, women have often been depicted through the male gaze as objects rather than subjects. Through abstract and monumental forms, I seek to create work that affirms women's presence, resilience, and inner strength. I want women to see something of themselves reflected in the work and feel empowered to take up space physically, emotionally, and imaginatively.
My current body of work, Women Who Stand Beside Us, honors the often unseen contributions of women who help others endure, grow, and thrive. Through paintings, sculptural studies, and future public art proposals, I explore themes of resilience, collective care, and empowerment, with the long term vision of creating both intimate works and monumental public sculptures.
As both an artist and designer, I am drawn to the intersection of form, meaning, and human experience. My goal is to create work that contributes beauty, strength, and care to the communities it serves while encouraging women to dream, awaken their spirit, and claim space in the world.
Women Who Stand Beside Us
Women Who Stand Beside Us is a conceptual series of paintings, sculptures, and future public art works currently in development. Inspired by the women who have offered guidance, protection, wisdom, and care throughout my life, the series explores themes of resilience, belonging, healing, empowerment, and collective support.
Through abstract forms and symbolic structures, the work investigates how relationships shape and sustain us. Rather than depicting specific individuals, the series employs universal forms that evoke protection, connection, tenderness, and transformation. Circles, shields, and organic geometries emerge as symbols of the bonds that help us navigate vulnerability and growth.
Central to the series are questions of agency, representation, and whose stories are told. Historically, women have often been depicted as objects rather than subjects. Through abstract and monumental forms, Women Who Stand Beside Us seeks to affirm women's presence, resilience, and inner strength while offering viewers a space to see themselves reflected emotionally and spiritually. The work aspires to inspire women to take up space, dream expansively, and recognize their own capacity for strength and transformation.
Currently in its concept phase, Women Who Stand Beside Us is evolving through sketches, paintings, and sculptural studies. The long term vision is to create a body of work that spans intimate studio pieces and monumental public murals and sculptures, offering spaces for reflection, recognition, healing, and gratitude.
